By the end of this lesson you should be able to solve the following equations for x:

 

a) 3x = 6

b) 5x + 2 = 12

c) -3y + 6 = 15

Explain what a Linear Equation is.

What is Linear, what isn't.

Explain that what is done to one side of the equal symbol needs to be done on the other.

Students complete the questions from Maths Quest, Chapter 4A.

Use Examples to demonstrate how to solve using Algebraic Fractions; pronumeral as numerator and denominator. 

Once finished students can attempt the solving game on Manga High.
