Solving Linear Equations

Reason For Learning

This lesson (and unit) enables us, finally, to answer that all-important question — what is the value of that pronumeral? Remember that up until now, when we used x, y or any other pronumeral in an expression, we implied that the pronumeral was a number whose value we didn’t know yet . . . now you will know! In essence, all algebra leads to the problem of solving equations and finding that value. Without it, algebra has no real purpose.

Learning Intention

To be able to recognize and solve simple linear equations (both one-step and multi-step problems) by using the same operation(s) on each side of the equation.
