Against a friend in backyard cricket or in the nets, have a contest to see who can face the most deliveries in a defensive game.  Then see who can get the most runs without getting out in an offensive game

You have been given the role as the Australian captain and need to lead your side on the field.  Have a think about what type of tactics you may use in the following situations to lead your side to victory:

- Playing a test match

- Playing a 20/20 match

- Playing ODI

- Chasing a big score as the batting side

- Defending a small target as the bowling side

Think about what type of field you may use, whether you will use spin or pace bowlers and how many overs you will bowl them, whether to attack early or defend when batting.

Part 1 - Warm Up
'Fielding Soccer'
- 2 teams
- Wickets are goals.  AIm is to hit your teams wicket with the ball.
- Players cannot run with the ball and can only throw underarm to teammates.
- You are allowed to intercept passes or defend the ball with your body when it is thrown at the wickets
- Dropped ball = possession turnover

Part 2 - Skill Development:
'Pepper Batting'
- Group of 4-5.
- One batter at a time, the rest are bowlers.  Batter faces bowlers practicing different types of delivery, (bouncer, yorker wide of stumps etc).
- Rotate batter after each bolwer has bolwed an over (6 deliveries)

Part 3 - Skill Application:
'Kanga Couples'
Students select a Batting partner.  Aim is to make the most runs, pair with the highest score wins.
- Batters bat for a total of 4 overs, (swap ends after each over as in cricket)
- If batters are bowled or caught out = lose 2 runs.
- New bolwer every over.
- Batters MUST run everytime the bat hits the ball

Modifications:
- To demonstrate an aggressive bowling attack, have the whole fielding team placed in attacking in-field positions such as silly mid on and slips restricting singles but promoting the batting attack to hit in the air to score runs.

- Then switch to a defensive field by placing fielders along the outfield and boundary to limit the amount of boundaries the batting team can score.
(Change between these field types each over or two)
