1. how the jumpers land in the sand pit

Part 1 - Warm Up
'Frisbee'
Description:
- 2 teams, 'throwing team' and the other 'retrieving team'.  Someone from the throwing team throws the frisbee anywhere in space and will run laps around their team.  Every lap made is a point.

Meanwhile retrieving team once they have the frisbee, must line up in a single file and alternate passing the frisbee over the head and then under the legs of their teamates from one end of the line through to the other.  Once at the end, last person with frisbee in their posession calls out 'stop'.  Points are counted and the teams roles are reversed.   Retrieving team become the throwing team and vice versa.  The aim is to score the most points you can.

Game should be fast paced, so encourgae quick transitions and retrieval.

Part 2 & 3 - Skill Progression/Application
Long Jump
'Standing Long Jump' - introduce stationary jump, measure out how far students can get.  Focus is on good arm and knee drive
'Long Jump onto Crash Mat' - measure students jump distances.  Measure best of 3 attempts

Triple Jump
'Hop, Step, Jump' - breakdown each phase of jump and practice each skill on the spot to familiarise yourself with technique
'Hoop Activity'
Set out 3 hoops/markers and see if you can 'hop', 'step' and jump' onto the next hoop laid out on the floor.  This is to encourage correct jumping technique for triple jump.   Marker distances can be altered depending on ability of group.
'Triple Jump onto Crash Mat' - measure students jump distances

High Jump
Scissor Jump - introduce basic run approach to to high jump bar and to build confidence have students scissor jump over foam bar.  Use the High Jump progressions link below to help you.
Fosbury Flop - introduce the correct jumping method (with back to bar) once students have built up confidence.  Have students set PB's and determine who can jump the highest.
