Usain Bolt = The fastest man alive.  He is considered by many to be the best sprinter of all time!  The link below is what he thinks about when he runs during the 100m Sprint.  What did you learn from watching the video?

Here's what Usian Bolt's coach has to say about training the fastest man alive.  Can you figure out how many training sessions (running and weight sessions) Usian Bolt has to do within a week?

If you had to coach both a Sprinter and Long Distance athlete how would you tailor their training to suit their competition event?  Would you change it at all?
Use the following points to guide your training program/schedule:
- Frequency (how often sessions are)
- Intensity
- Type of training (sport specific, recovery, weight training etc.)
- Time (how long does each training session last for)

Part 2 - Skill Progression
'Timed Sprints'
See how fast students run in 50m, 100m and 200m distances.  Record the best times.

'How Far Can You Go?'
Measure the distances students cover in 10 seconds and 20 second intervals.
(NB:  9.58 and 19.19 seconds are the current World Record times for the 100m and 200m Sprints)

'Baton Relay'
Use the link below to understand how the activity runs.
Modifications:
Change how students start these races, eg. standing start, crouch start and beach start (lying on the ground).  Discuss the differences to race times and distances covered.

Part 3 - Skill Application
'Paarlauf Relay' Challenge
Team Activity - aim is for the team to get the most laps.  Challenge time can be determined upon discretion of group and teacher, (eg 10-15 minutes)
- Team running order must be predetermined by the students and maintained for the duration of the challenge.

- Team baton must be passed onto next runner, to show who is running

- When running = minimum of 1 lap or maximum of 3

- Each team is responsible for their score.  Once a runner has ended their turn they must initial and record how many laps were made
