Safety Rules:

1. Wrist/Forearm guards must be used.

2. Never point a bow and arrow at a person, even when not drawn.

3. Arrows are not picked up until "load" command is given.

4. Never shoot your arrow until the "fire when ready" command is given.

5. Never draw the string without an arrow

6. After completing round, students place bow on the ground and step back behind line to wait for others to finish and command to “retrieve arrows.”

 

Commands used:

"load" -- waiting and preparing to shoot

"fire when ready" -- shoot arrows. Students put bow in quiver when finished.

"retrieve arrows" – campers get arrows after all have finished.

Part 1 - Equipment Set Up and Warm Up


Part 2 -  Skill Development

Students will shoot at targets from a set distance.  Students will be collating their scores over a 5-6 rounds, familiarising themselves with the scoring system of an archery target.    


Part 3 - Pack up and Debrief

What did you find difficult?

How to you adjust your shot in accordance to distance from target?  

Where do we want to aim on a target to get the highest score?

How many points are the blue rings worth on the target?   The red?   The balck?
