Read through Unit 1 of the Study Design (attached below go to page 12) to get familiar with what we will be learning.

Create your own checklist of the Key Knowledge dot points so that you can tick them off as you learn them.

Read Chapter 1.1-1.3 of the textbook (scanned copy of all of Chapter 1 attached), and make notes of the key points that you read.

Create a glossary of the following terms:

Legal Rules

Non-Legal Rules

Criminal law

Civil law

Parliament

3. Law in the Media

Have you heard any stories in the news lately involving a crime, a court case, or a new law being created?

Find an article in the news that involves making or breaking the law and be prepared to bring it in to discuss with the class.
