Shakespeare's Sonnet 18 There are fourteen lines in a Shakespearean sonnet. The first twelve lines are divided into three quatrains with four lines each. In the three quatrains the poet establishes a theme or problem and then resolves it in the final two lines, called the couplet.

The rhyme scheme of the quatrains is abab cdcd efef

  1. In antiquity, Ozymandias was an alternative name for the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II.
 ACTIVITY 2 

You will need to open RESOURCE 1 and answer the questions. (Ozymandias)

Include the following question for discussion - If you were to write a poem about a famous person in contemporary society, who would you choose and why? 

Would it be someone who was wealthy?
