Chapter 8 - Frankie's new hair style makes the boys laugh - Gordie joins them - The Black Dog Gang is formed.

1. Why is it important for the boys to be part of their own gang? How does this help each individual in the tough times of the Rocks in the 1900's?

2. p 66 Frankie fights for Gordie to be included as their 'mascot'. What does this demonstrate about Frankie’s understanding of Gordie?

1. Read the description of the 'rotten carcass' p 74. Why is this so dangerous to the boys' health?

2. What is surprising about Gordie? p 75
