1. Review of the debate :

Which side did you support?

1. Mickey is guilty of homicide

2. Mickey is innocent and his actions were justifiable.

3. Too complex and both sides have merit.

Chapter 18

1. What Is Frankie's mood and how is this shown at the beginning of this chapter?

2. Why does Frankie kill the rats in such a rage? p 156

3. Why does Frankie feel such terrible guilt? p157

 4. Olsen - read p 158 - 160 and write an opinion about this man, a policeman. Is he fair or not? What did he do to Gordie;s 'old man'?

5. Frankie admits his guilt p 162 -4. What is his mother's reaction?

The mood changes! After the terrible climax in which Mickey kills his father and Maggie gets the plague, there is a change.

1.  p 167 - 168 Johnno  - why is this conversation a good one for Frankie?

2. p169 - Frankie finds the cloth Mickey has left for him with 'the letter F scrawled in black'. What could this mean?

3. p 170-172 Is Olsen any better than Mickey's father, Rory Collins? What evidence can you provide that Olsen is a brutal man?

4. Who saves Frankie from Olsen? p 172-3

5. What great news is there at the end of this chapter? p 173
