Explore the significant elements of another culture, investigate the following to gain an understanding of the culture and document some of the key points you may use in your story.
Investigation points to consider:
- location, this can include the climate, environment, water source, association to other countries or significant landmarks.
- Traditions
- Religions
- Arts
- Celebrations
- Past or current conflicts
- laws or unwritten rules
Note: You may use some of your past learning tasks and investigations as a starting point to explore this will include Ancient Civilisations, Three Wishes by Deborah Ellis or a film you have watched.

Planning
Using the research you have collected start to create a plan for your short story.
A short story isn't more than five or six paragraphs.
Your story must have the following elements:
Introduction
Middle - your middle of the story should have a conflict or issue so that in your conclusion it can be resolved.
End/Conclusion
It is important that you have your planning document read by your teacher and a friend before you start writing.

When you feel like you are ready begin writing your story, explore your ideas, consider how you can use vocabulary and descriptive writing to captivate your reader.
Before having a draft read by your teacher, have a friend or family member proof read your work.
