Making and viewing a microscope slide

 

Materials:

• Microscope

• microscope slide

• Sticky tape

• small piece of newspaper.


Method:

1. cut a letter ?e' from a piece of newspaper and place it right up on a microscope slide.

2. Cover the ?e' with a piece of sticky tape.

3. View under low power (40x) and focus.

4. Move the slide slowly towards the left and then to the right while viewing.


Results:

1. Draw a diagram of the letter 'e' as seen under the microscope.

2. How is the letter 'e' different from how it was placed in the slide.

3. When the slide was moved to the left, which way did the image of the letter 'e' move?

4. When the slide was moved forwards, which way did the image of the letter 'e' move?
