Evaluating your peers on their performance can be very challenging at times.

Develop your own assessment criteria, and apply this to a sport of your choice. For example;

Skill Objectives:

 

Improvement of student understanding of personal performance

Identification and improvement of student weakness areas of game play

Introductory Game/Game Sense Game

Full game rules, modified field size for 5v5

Umpire team swaps

Two teams play and two teams complete peer assessments for a partner.

Teams are swapped until everyone has been assessed

Game Sense Questions:

 

Pairs discuss results with partner with an emphasis of areas improvement as well as already accomplished skills.

Concept development (drills)

Assessment process is repeated with umpire team assessing team performance rather than individual performance.

Teams are swapped until everyone has had a team assessment

Game Sense Questions:

 

Team assessment results are discussed giving emphasis on positive and constructive feedback with regards to performance

Game Play/Play Practice:

Full game rules 5v5, modified field

Umpire team

Teams participate with focus on what aspects can be improved in both individual and team performances

Game Parameters:

 

-   Modified field size appropriate for 5v5 games

-  Ball must be passed backward or possession is lost

-  Attackers are allowed 6 tries before turnover

-  Attackers can start play immediately

-  If the ball is dropped possession is lost

-  The ball must be placed on the spot after a touch

-  If a defender is offside any touch made by them is invalid

Game is played with two halves, each half being 10 minutes long

-  The finals will be determined by team’s ladder positioning through the winning of points during the round games.  A game win provides 3 points, a draw, 2 points, and a loss 1 point.
