Watch the following video from the 2011 Badminton World Federation World Championships.  The clip is a highlight video of the Men's Final between China and Malaysia.  Answer the following:
- What kind of shots are used to win the 1st two points shown in the video?
- Look at the typical rally length per point.  Can you count the number of shots played just to win the point?  Can you name all the different stroke selections?
- Imagine you were the centre umpire.   Why are all the points awarded as they are?  See if you can keep track.
- What is the importance of shot selection at this level of Badminton Play?  Name two main things that it effects mostly?

Part 2 - Skill Progression/Development
'Rallying'
In pairs players work on the following.   Each rally players are to use ONLY the shot type nominated.
'Forehand rallying' - shuttle needs to be hit on forehand side below the shoulder
'Backhand rallying' - shuttle needs to be hit on backhand side below the shoulder
'Overhead clears' - shuttle must be hit above players head.

In each instance, players must move themselves in a position where they can play the appropriate shots.   The aim is to further develop each shot type to strengthen overall skill.

'Serving Accuracy'
In small groups, students one at a time work on trying to serve the shuttle into a bucket, container or hoop on the other side of the service court.   Aim is to develop accurate serves.
Modification:
- Competition.  Designate set number of shuttles and have groups play agianst others.  Which group can get the most shuttles in the hoop. 1 group per court.
- Competition against teams.  2 teams per court.  1 team on one side of court serving from right side.   Other team on other side of same court serving from left side.  Players can use any shuttle on their side of the court hit by other team that has missed the target they are going for.  In 1 minute how many shuttles can teams get in.
