Can you answer the following questions:

How many seconds can you hold the ball for?

How is a short pass measured?

Where does the ball need to be touched first after a centre pass?

In which country did netball begin?

If you land on two feet while catching the ball, which foot can you pivot on?      

How long is a quarter?

How many lines are on a netball court?

When do you stand out of play?

At a throw in, can you have your feet on the line?

What is the size of the ball? Is it the small for all ages?

Key players for both teams?

Key features in their style of play?

Do they perform particular plays regularly?

Warm Up

=       Rock, bridge, tree

=       Passing in pairs

Centre pass defence

=       Students will be in groups of 4 (in a square)

=       One attacker will start with the ball outside the square and try to pass the ball to their attacker in the square

=       The other two players are defenders and need to try and intercept the pass

=       Extension; add an extra attacker and defender

Centre pass attack

=       Students will set up for a centre pass with attackers and defenders

=       Attacking team will have 10 shots and then attackers and defenders will swap

=       Have discussion about the different tactics that you can use to be more successful

Netball game

=       Students will be in teams of 8 (one on the bench)

=       Team off will umpire the game and score

=       Students need to try and implement skills learnt in the game

=       Focus on defending and attacking centre passes
