Name some of the basic physical skills required to particpate in movement activity, minor games and team sports?

- What are the benefits of cooperative physical actvity games?  
- Where can these cooperative games be used?

- Create a game which you could play during a Programs, House Assembly or even during class time.  You need to establish the following:
- Equipment needed
- Rules
- Court/Field Layout
- Player Positions

Develop your own P.E. lesson incorporating minor and cooperative games of your choosing.
Lesson must include:  
- Warm Up
- Activities that promote 'Skill Progression'.  For example, games that help to develop throwing, catching, kicking, hitting and running skills.
- A 'Final Activity' that aims to develop team work and sportmanship.

Modifcaitons:
- Change the number of taggers
- Change the locomotive movement, (eg. skip, jump, hop etc.)

Part 2 - Skill Progression/Development
'Swiss Ball Foot Race'
Description:  
- 2 x Teams.  Starting in opposing corners of the gym, teams lying on their backs must try and get the swiss ball from one corner of the room to the other corner.  
Rules:
- Only part of the body that can touch the swiss ball are feet.  
- Feet cannot touch the wall
- Ball must not drop on the ground.  
- Players backs must be on the floor at all times.
- Swiss Ball must be in contact with the wall at all times

A breach in the rules means the team must reset back to where they started.

Part 2 - Skill Progression/Development
'Frisbee'
Description:
- 2 teams, 'throwing team' and the other 'retrieving team'.  Someone from the throwing team throws the frisbee anywhere in space and will run laps around their team.  Every lap made is a point.  

Meanwhile retrieving team once they have the frisbee, must line up in a single file and alternate passing the frisbee over the head and then under the legs of their teamates from one end of the line through to the other.  Once at the end, last person with frisbee in their posession calls out 'stop'.  Points are counted and the teams roles are reversed.   Retrieving team become the throwing team and vice versa.  The aim is to score the most points you can.  

Game should be fast paced, so encourgae quick transitions and retrieval.

Part 2 - Skill Progression/Development      
'Block Soccer'
Description:
Blocks/Cones are set up in a square, 4 rows of 4 approx. 5 metres apart.  3 indoor soccer balls are used.  The aim is to knock down everyone else's block while still protecting your own.  If a block gets knocked over, the student goes to the end of the line of remaining students, whilst another student runs in resets the block and replaces that player.
Rules:  
- Only low shots, if a ball goes above the waist the kicker is out,  
- Students can defend the block with whatever part of their body they like
Modifications:
- Can introduce more soccer balls
- Blocks can only be defended using legs and feet
- Students waiting for a turn, can also knock over blocks from the perimeter.
- Can introduce a roving player who can run around and knock over anyones cone with the ball, however if the player gets hit with a ball they are out.

Part 3 - Skill Application
'Multisport' 
Sideline Activity - 2 x teams.  
- Teams line up at half court sidelines (one either side of the space).
- If '5' is called the first 5 people in line come out to play.  If '3' is called then the first 3 people etc. 
- The number of players called out must run down and touch the end wall or baseline of the court before they can play.
- An item or bit of equipment is thrown into space and that is the sport that will be played.  
- Play ceases when a team has scored or time runs out.  
- Players on the court run back to their team and join the end of the line.  
Sports that can be played include:  Soccer, Basketball, Netball, Handball, Frisbee, Tchoukball,  Inline Hockey etc.

Part 3 - Skill Application
'Skittles'
Equipment:  6 cones, 6-8 dodgeballs
Area:  Basketball court
Description:  Divide class into 2 teams.  Set up 3 cones at each end of the court.  Teams are not allowed to cross a designated boundary, (usually opposite netball 3rd).  Students are to protect their teams cones from being knocked over, whilst trying to knock the others teams cones over using the dodgeballs.  To win, either knock down all of the cones, or hit the entire team with the dodgeballs.
Rules:
- Dodgeball rules apply.  Get hit on the full with the ball and you are out.  Catch a ball, the person who threw the ball is out.   A team mate can also come back in to join the game.
Modifications:
- a dodgeball can be thrown at the opposing ends basketball backboard to get whole team back into the game who may be out.  However if the ball gets caught on the rebound, then the player who threw the ball is out.    
- more dodgeballs can be introduced
- add more cones at either end to knock over
