Determine whether any students have played Volleyball before.   Establish basic rules:
- What must you do with the volleyball?
- What is the aim of the game?
- How do you score?
Perhaps have students who have played help with class activities

Volleyball Court 

The following is a diagram of a Volleyball court.  
- How are players spaced on the court?     
- Are all players allowed to go anywhere on court?
- Can players dig, set or spike anywhere on the court?  
- Using the court space, what are some basic defensive and offensive tactics utilised in a game?
- When and how do players rotate around the court?

Answer the following questions:
TRUE/FALSE  
- Players rotate in a clockwise direction.
- Players are not permitted to run outside the court and play the ball.
- When the serving team wins a point all players rotate clockwise one position

- Originally it was a mixture of what 4 sports?
- What level of competition is offered for volleyball?

Part 1 - Warm Up
'Net High 5's'
Students in pairs.  One person on either side of the net.   Starting down one end of the court, students must try to high 5 each other without touching the net.   Alternate by high 5-ing over and under the net.  
Modifications:
- 'High 10' emphasising height when jumping.  
- Students must do a lap of the court everytime they touch the net.

Part 2 - Skill Progression/Development
'Partner to Partner Set/Digs'
Working with a partner.  Students, developing their hand eye coordination, work on setting/digging the ball between each other.   Emphasis on basic technique.  
Modification:
- Catching the ball prior to performing the skill
- Distance between partner shortened lengthened.  
- Allow ball to bounce before performing skill

- Let the ball bounce before catching it.
- Team must introduce 3 touches before ball goes over the net.
