Students are to complete their epilogue assignment (see previous bite for assignment sheet) to be handed in at the end of the lesson.

Before a final draft is written, students must pair up with the person sitting next to them and read their epilogues aloud. Their partner is to constructively critique their work and then the roles are to be reversed. For students working outside of class, a friend or family member is appropriate.

To provide appropriate and relevant feedback, concentrate on the following areas:

  • conformity to free verse poetry techniques
  • use of poetic techniques
  • believability of epilogues based on what is already known about the characters

1. Read the drafts of your epilogues to the person next to you at the beginning of the class.

2. Discuss any potential changes/improvements that can be made.

3. Write the final draft for each of your three epilogues.
