1. In pairs, students are to brainstorm as many great or foolish feats of human adventure/misadventure (i.e. climbing Mt. Everest, voyages of discovery, landing on the moon, failed Everest expeditions, etc.) that you can. Consider those whose adventures ended tragically in particular,

2. Each pair is then assigned one great or foolish feat of human adventure to research. Specifically, students must answer the following questions:
- Describe the adventure: Where was it? Was it successful?
- What did those involved have to endure in pursuit of their goals?
- Try and find a first person account of someone that was there at the time. Why do you think they were involved? What were their thoughts?
- Consider the thoughts of their family and friends if the person has lost their life in pursuing a dangerous adventure.
FINALLY
Argue the case for or against the following:
Adventurers who risk their lives are foolish.
Each group then has 3 minutes to present their findings to the class.
