Make detailed notes on the following:

Look for passages that describe corrupted characters- hosts, competitors, mentors from wealthy districts and compare them with Katniss. Record negative descriptions of corrupted characters and what this says about Collins’ views and values. Find passages that describe the moral ambiguity of Haymitch.

Look at negative descriptions of corrupted characters and what this says about Collins’ views and values. Look at moral ambiguity of Haymitch. Relate this to dictatorships, totalitarian society. Re-read key passages and create on board tables for students to fill in on character contrasts.

Form groups made in previous bite to continue making notes on the training days/games days for the graphic organiser.

Discuss all these notes as a class, reach consensus on what should be included in chart, then one group is in charge of recording the events from that day on the chart on wall.
