Read through the PowerPoint below and identify as many of the historical dictators pictured as you can. Conduct research to find a brief overview of how each dictator ruled.

Your teacher will present for 10 min on some dictators and the socities they rule over, using primary and secondary sources (including images) to gather information on what life is like under dictators.

Form small groups. Your teachers will give you sources (e.g. pictures, diary entries) from dictatorship societies.

Record as much information as possible from the sources about what life is like for the people shown/discussed in the sources.

Think about the following questions when you are analysing your questions:

      1. What kind of source is it (primary/secondary)?

     2. How does it portray the dictator? What are some of their characteristics mentioned in the source?

      3. How does the source portray life under the dictator's rule?

      4. What similarities can you find between the historical dictator and the rulers in the Capitol in The Hunger Games?

In your group, begin constructing a presentation similar to the presentation that your teacher just made, using your sources as a springboard for details about life under dictatorships.
