The plague in medieval times

Student task 1

Informative writing

Using facts from your research, write a paragraph or more accurately describing the impact of the plague in medieval times.  You need to be confident that the information you are providing is correct. 

You can choose from one of the following or write about a subject you are interested in that you have researched during our study of this topic :

1. Impact of the plague on population and lifestyle

2. Cultural and religioius changes as a result of the plague

3. What medieval people thought caused the plague and the herbs or medicines they used as 'protection'

4. What the Black Death was, how long it lasted and why it was named in this way

5. How the plague was spread so quickly and where it came from to England

6. How the plague eradicated feudalism 

7. The 'danse macabre'

OR anything else you are particularly keen to explore further and write about. 

Student task 2

Creative writing (add images if you choose)

Use your information to write in any style you choose to explore the effects of the plague in a more personal way.

Suggestions -

personal voice of a survivor - a series of diary entries

merchant arrives in England and observes the effects of the plague

a doctor's account of the plague

a group of friends' attempts to escape the plague

a group of people escape being persecuted because they are blamed for the Black Death
