OVERVIEW

Is the issue you have chosen a  current issue? For example has it been in the news this week?

Is it an issue that has been ongoing - this means it is complicated and it arises from time to time and is debated in the media.

For example, euthanasia is often debated with some people arguing for it and others arguing strongly against it. When opinion is divided, we call this a divisive issue.

Why did you choose the issue you have chosen?

What is your main contention?

Do you have at least two separate arguments or more? Remember you must write these in separate paragraphs with a space between each one.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

You will write the lefter  in class - after your letter is checked, consider if you want to email it to the Herald Sun.

See if it is published!

EMAIL YOUR LETTER TO THE HERALD SUN

If you think your issue is current enough, it will be emailed in class to the Herald Sun Letter to the editor section.

See resource below - student in 2013 had his letter published as 'Letter of the week'. Max was responding to a cruel puppy farm that had just been raided outside of Melbourne. Many dogs had to be put down but some were saved thankfully.
