Find some examples of letters to editor in the newspaper OR some examples of persuasive speeches on the internet. Write down what you think are the three main features of the text type you've chosen. Consider content, language and lay out. Send your ideas to your teacher for feedback.

Begin planning for your Persuasive Writing task:

  • Why have you chosen this style?
  • What issue are your writing about?
  • What is your overall contention (opinion) on the issue?
  • What are your main arguments? You should have three
  • What do you hope to convince your audience of? What do you wnat them to do to help you fix the issue?
  • What skills and knowledge do you already have?
  • What will you need to research/learn?
