Classroom Activity B
On a piece of A3 paper or larger draw an outline of a person (not a stick figure, there must be space inside the figure as well as around the outside)
Repeat the process once more
Name one of your characters Adam and the other one Walid.
Students need to go through Chapter One and Two of the novel and do the following:
In the legs of Adam draw everything he DOES in chapter 1
Repeat the process in the legs of Walid (info for him is in chapter 2)
In the chest area of Adam draw everything he feels in chapter 1 (repeat process for Walid, using chapter 2)
In the head area of Adam draw everything he thinks in chapter 1(repeat process for Walid, using chapter 2)
Try to use some quotes, e.g if you write that Adam thinks he’s intelligent, use the quote on page 1 where he believes his plan is “mind bustingly brilliant.”
Around the outside of both characters include some background about each of them in the form of aprofile, e.g. age:
country of birth:
interests:
appearance:
family life:
likes and dislikes: etc
You will need to keep coming back to your characters and adding more as we study the novel in greater depth. Keep them somewhere safe.
Teacher may even put them up around the room.
