1. Teachers' feedack

Have a look through your school work and find some feedback that you have recently recieved from a teacher.

What are some of the positive things the teacher has said about your work?

What are some of the things your teacher has suggested you add/improve?

2. Positive feedback and constructive feedback

Feedback can come in different forms, and are used for different reasons.

Positive feedback involves pointing out the successful aspects of a piece of work, and highlighting what worked well.

Constructive feedback involves pointing out what can be improved, and making suggestions to further enhace a piece of work.

Negative feedback involves critising and judging a piece of work, and is NOT useful!! (we will not be giving each other negative feedback).

For each type of feedback (positive, constructive and positive), give three examples of comments that would be appropriate. For example, 'I really liked the way you used images to support what you were saying' (positive), 'Using more of those images would make the presentation more engaging' (constructive), 'the pictures were stupid and made the presentation look really bad' (negative).

3. Give your own feedback

Choose two of the youtube video projects below to watch.  For each video you watch, create a list of postitive feedback and constructive feedback. Think of as much feedback as you can and make sure it is useful for the person making the project.

What is the difference between positive feedback and constructive feedback?

What is the difference between constuctive feedback and negative feedback?

Why is negative feedback usually not ideal when helping someone to improve their work?

1. Brainstorm as a group - what is feedback? What makes feedback valuable? What is the difference between constrictive feedback and negative put downs?

2. Students will work in groups of 3 to provide constructive feedback to an annonymous piece of work given to them by a teacher. Each group will need to give at least 5 points of feedback - both positive and constructive - for the piece of work (see work samples below - all groups can have the same sample or each groups can hav a different one).

Think of the following when providing feedback:

      - What are the strengths of the work?

      - What would you add or change about certain parts?

      - Why do you think your suggestions for change would enhance the work?

Each group should then share their feedback with the class
