Fact file and Comic
Summarising and using historical information in explicit and non-explicit ways

Who were the ancient Greeks? What did they do? In order to answer these questions you are going to create a class fact file on Ancient Greeks.
Fromn the attached fact file, choose at least 5 different facts to research. After researching you need to use these five facts in a comic about ancient Greece.
The facts don't have to be included in the text/dialogue of your comic but they can be included in more subtle ways. For example, the clothes that your characters wear could be based on the fact files.
Your comic should be at least 4 frames long.

Olympic games
Examining how the present is both similar and different to the past

Compare and contrast the ancient Greek Oympic Games with today's Olympic Games using a venn diagram. What does this tell us about the differences between ancient Greek society and modern society in Australia today?
Your venn diagram should include at least 15 points that not only explain the similarities or differences but also what this demonstrates about the particular society.

Architecture
Exploring how the present is influenced by the past

Design, or make a model of a Greek Temple. Research different features of Greek architecture (for example pillars) to help you decide on your design features. Use ICT drawing tools for your sketch if they are available. Label elements of your finished design appropriately.
or
Find images of ancient Greek architectural features (for example, Greek style pillars) and then find buildings in our world today that have followed the Greek style. For more of a challenge, find buildings in Melbourne that have copied the Greek style.

Who were the ancient Greeks? What did they do? In order to answer these questions you are going to create a class fact file on Ancient Greeks.

Negotiate with your teacher which fact file (from the list attached) you will complete. Complete your fact file on a blank piece of paper (don't forget to include the title of your factfile).

Stick the fact files around the room.

Read through all of the fact files (completed by everyone in the class) and choose at least 5 fact files to include in your own comic about ancient Greece. The facts don't have to be included in the text/dialogue of your comic but they can be included in more subtle ways. For example, the clothes that your characters wear could be based on the fact files.
