Conduct your own research about Ancient Egypt and then create a photo essay. Your photo/picture essay should include at least four images.  The following are ideas to get you started:

  • Where was this ancient civilisation located? What was the significance of its location? (For example -  How did the Nile River influence this civilisation??
  • Research at least one Pharoah. Explore who they were, when they lived and what they achieved in their life.
  • What did the ancient Egyptians wear? How might this have been influenced by the climate and other local factors?
  • The ancient Egyptians had numerous gods. Research three different gods. What information  about what they valued can we deduce from looking at their gods?
  • What was the Rosetta stone?  Who discovered it and why is it historically significant?

The ancient Egyptians had strong beliefs about the afterlife which was extensively displayed once a Pharoah died.

  • Research what the Egyptians did to prepare a Pharoah for the afterlife  (look at how the Pharoah's body was prepared, what goods he/she was buried with and how the pyramid was protected from theft).
  • Design your own pyramid. What would it include? How would you protect it from thieves?  You can present this either visually or in written form.

I fyou can get your hands on a text book, read through pages 138-141(Oxford  Big Ideas History Year 7).

  • Especially look at how the pharoah's body was prepared, what goods he/she was buried with and how the pyrmid was protected from theft.
  •

Living forever is a topic that has occupied people, science and medicine for hundreds of years. It was no different for the Egyptians. Interestingly, there are many similarities (and differences) with how immortality is represented and sought today.

Look at pages 150-151 (Oxford Big Ideas: History 7) and choose either the religious, scientific, entertainment or the cyrogenic view of living forever and answer the associated questions.
