As a class, create a venn diagram on the board with the three headings "past", "present" and "similarities". Use the venn diagram to illustrate differences between the lives of children in the videos and the lives of children today.

2. Choose a period of history you are interested in. For instance Ancient times - Egypt, Greece, Rome, Japan, China. Industrial times - 1700's -1900's.

Use your netbook to research what life was like for a child during that time period.

Try to include stories, images and primary sources in your research.

Ensure you take notes and keep a bibliography of the sites you use.

It is imporatnt that you take notes of the information you consider to be important for your understanding of this study.

Use the following questions to guide your research:

What was everyday life like for a child?

What were some of the downsides of living in that period?

How did life change between different kinds of children in the period?

In what ways was a child's life different from your own? W

What were some of the tasks that child was expected to to do?

What expectations were placed upon the child by:

  • family
  • the local community
  • by the society

Determine the best method to present your work. For instance, poster, prezi, movie, video etc.
