Reason For Learning

Training Junior IT Support Rovers who require the skills in running diagnostic tests to determine the overall performance status of a computer, and in the process, resolving these issues in a timely and effective manner. This is with the view that the Junior Support personnel can use the knowledge and skills learned to diagnose a PC behaving erratically for malicious or harmful content, with the final outcome of resolving these issues.

Learning Intention

The Intention for learning is for learners to be able to Identify common symptoms and preventative maintenance techniques, Operate System Diagnostics and Scan Systems for Viruses. The Critical Aspects of this Unit include ability to Troubleshoot Hardware and OS Issues, Conduct Diagnostic Tests on a range of platforms (Hardware and software) according to preventative maintenance and diagnostic policy, Identify root causes of problems, Scan Systems for computer viruses and remove them using software tools and Remove viruses by restoring from backups
