Experimental Probability 2

Reason For Learning

It would be preferable to be able to determine probabilities from a theory or formula instead of having to perform surveys or simulations. If a situation is such that there are a number of equally likely outcomes one can determine the probability of a particular outcome using the formula.

Learning Intention

In this lesson, students learn how to perform simulations to experimentally determine a probability.

ACMSP225 Level 9

List all outcomes for twostep chance experiments, both with and without replacement using tree diagrams or arrays. Assign probabilities to outcomes and determine probabilities for events

ACMSP246 Level 10

Describe the results of two and three-step chance experiments, both with and without replacements, assign probabilities to outcomes and determine probabilities of events. Investigate the concept of independence
