The product of perpendicular line gradients is -1

Reason For Learning

Perpendicular lines are lines that intersect at a 90 degree angle. They occur frequently in real life. Perpendicular lines have gradients that are negative inverses (or negative reciprocal). That means that they have a product of -1 when they are multiplied together.

Learning Intention

I can recognize perpendicular lines by comparing their gradients. Also, I can find the equation of perpendicular lines and sketch them on a graph.
