Unit 3 - Collisions

Reason For Learning

Collisions occur quite a lot - probably more than you think! A collision is simply an event where two or more objects come into contact. Depending on how they come together, the result will be different. For example, the objects could stick together, bounce off each other or one could even stop altogether due to the impact. By the end of this bite, it is important that you can recognise a situation that can be categorised as a collision as it will make it easier in the exam for you to apply the correct formulae.

Learning Intention

You will learn about momentum, impulse and the different ways that objects behave in a collision and an explosion. You will also learn about the differences between elastic and inelastic collisions.
