Unit 3 - Using Language to Persuade/Issue

Reason For Learning

At the end of term one, you will start the area of study called 'Using Language to Persuade'. In this area of study, your SAC will test your oral skills and your ability to write a piece of persuasive text. The content of the speech will demonstrate how much you understand the overall issue and the specific topic you have chosen. The issue has not yet been decided (as at December 2014). It will be decided in Term One and information regarding the issue will be sent to you and made available in this learning bite and on SharePoint. Please note that in the final exam, 'Using Language to Persuade' is assessed through the note form summary and language analysis. You will not be assessed on the issue we have chosen. All schools choose different issues.

Learning Intention

After completing this learning bite, you will understand the issue sufficiently to be able to write the content of your SAC (speech). You will also apply your knowledge of how to write a persuasive text in the writing of your speech. You will clearly understand the criteria for the SAC.
