Unit 4 - Le Chateliers Principle, factors that affect position ( Conc, Temp, Press & Vol)

Reason For Learning

A very famous Scientist Henri Louis Le Chatelier (1850- 1936) published " A general statement of the laws of Chemical Equilibrium". In this document he explained how the position of different equilbria can be changed by controlling the conditions under which the reaction is conducted. That can be adding or removing reactant or product. Changing the pressure by altering the volume for gaseous mixtures. Dilution and then finally changing the Temperature.

Learning Intention

After doing this learning bite you will be able to: Predict the effect on an Equilibrium constant if Temperature is increased or decreased. Define and use Le Chatelier's principle to predict the direction in which the equilibrium position shifts in response to change.
