Reason For Learning

Students need to be familiar with the principles of chromatographic techniques. They need to be able to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data from Thin Layer TLC, High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC, and Gas Chromatography GC

Learning Intention

At the end of this learning bite students will be able to describe the Equipment and procedures necessary for all types of Chromatography. They will be able to calculate Rf values and use them to identify components. Students will also be able to determine the concentrations of samples from data obtained from instrumental analyses. You should also be able to use retention times from HPLC & GC analyses to determine components present in a sample.
