Assessment of physical activity and sedentary behaviour

Reason For Learning

Students who are interested in a career in health promotion, personal trainer or physical educator need to understand ways of assessing physical activity and sedentary behaviour. It also forms an important part of the unit 3 curriculum in Physical Education and will assist students live an active lifestyle as well as the benefits associated with being active.

Learning Intention

1. Be able to identify the different National Physical Activity Guidelines for each age group and subgroup 2. Understand each of the objective and subjective measurement instruments and which is most suitable at an individual and population level as well as positives and negatives of each measure. 3. Understand the dimensions of physical activity and how to apply type, frequency, intensity, duration
