Reason For Learning

This is part of the unit 2 of the physical education curriculum and forms part of the knowledge required later in units 3 and 4. Students who are considering a career as a health practioner or promoter will gain an insight to some of the key knowledge and skills required of this field.

Learning Intention

1. Students will be able to define the concepts physical activity, inactivity and sedentary behaviour. 2. Students will be able to explain the physical, social and mental health benefits of regular participation in physical activity. 3. Students will gain an insight to the health risks associated with being physically inactive.
