Reason For Learning

To allow students to make balanced choices when preparing meals and snacks. It is important that students understand how to choose a range of foods from different food groups in the right combinations in order to achieve a healthy diet.

Learning Intention

What the basic nutrient categories are including: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats. What vitamins and minerals are and what kinds of food they are found in. What the 5 food groups are and how to choose a balanced healthy diet using the Healthy eating plate model.
