In this Unit, Sts need practice in:
- Understanding points of view presented in texts whose purpose is to persuade;
- Discussing in small groups and whole class to develop constructive interactions and build on ideas of others;
- Recognising examples of verbal and non-verbal (i.e. photos, graphs, cartoons, text size, etc.) language used by authors of texts to persuade readers and viewers to share the point/s of view presented;
- Describing orally and in writing using appropriate metalanguage how texts are designed to persuade/influence/affect readers;
- Planning and revising for coherence of form, language, structure, audience and context;
- Writing clearly using the conventions of spelling, punctuation and syntax of standard Australian English
