In English you already know what questions to ask when asking for directions.

When travelling around look at the different signs and what they show.

What information do they point out. If you did not know English would you be able to recognise the directions.

You will be challenged to find and record the following extra phrases:

  •  Where is the airport?
  • Where is the hospital?
  • Where are the local doctors?

Brainstorm words that you would need to know to form basic sentences on how to ask for directions.

  • How to form sentences with 'Where...
  • The words for:

                                    North, South, East, West

                                    Down the road

                                    Around the corner

                                    Next door

                                    Right, left

Other important phrases include:

Where are the toilets?

Where are the shops?

How can I find the ..................?

Where is the location of the .............?

See if you can add other words or phrases that are connected to  'directions'
