Unit 2 - AOS 1- Dissolution, dissociation and ionisation of substances in water

Reason For Learning

Water exists naturally on earth in all three states. It is continuously being recycled due to the water cycle and has many important properties essential to maintaining life.

Learning Intention

Whilst completing this learning bite you will: Examine the strong bonding within the discrete molecule water and identify it as hydrogen bonding. Examine the importance of water as a solvent, taking special notice of the environmental issues associated with the solvent properties of water. Learn about the dissociation of Ionic solutes in water. You will also construct and use solubility curves, and learn about saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated solutions.
